Front Step is a faith-based 501(c)3 non-profit that provides services that equip and empower people and organizations that assist the urban community in reaching its full potential, and to give them the opportunity to work toward the solution of their own problems through physical, financial, and relational resources. These may include information, referrals, direct resources, and/or collaborative efforts with other service providers.
General Information
Front Step, Inc works with community members who are trying
to improve their socioeconomic condition through programs addressing relief
(crisis), recovery (stability), development (progress), and leadership
(contribution). Food and clothing can be provided by a partner organization to
those in desperate need, but is followed up with work skills, life skills,
English for Speakers of Other Languages, and more. Development involves the
community working toward a better neighborhood, with focus on cleanup,
rehabilitation of a large park, and our biggest project - the community center
at 16th & Courtland. Finally, Front Step, Inc wants to help develop leaders
from the community. This is done through identifying, enlisting, training,
commissioning, and encouraging those people in the community who have the drive
and desire to take a leading role now, or in the future. We have, and will
continue to develop, internships, teams, the Urban Training Center, and the
practice of promoting certain participants to instructors.
