The First Fruits/Foods of our Culinary Program

Meet Executive Chef, Chef Bernard who has been spending much of his time this week in the Front Step Kitchen at our Courtland building. It did not take much for him to inspire some of the teens to assist him preparing lunch and be part of his Gourmet Lemonade Stand.
These teens were presented with their first chef's coat which was received with great enthusiasm and worn with great pride. Together they generated much needed funds for the culinary program.

Jobs-for-Life President/CEO, David Spickard, visits Front Step

Jobs-for-Life President/CEO, David Spickard, visited our site at our Courtland building, yesterday, Wednesday, July 25th. The Jobs-for-Life program is one the many programs Front Step Inc provides to empower individuals in the communities to become "job-ready". We have had 5 graduates who completed and graduated from this program. We had the opportunity to share our success stories with David and he in return shared some valuable information with us to overcome some of the challenges we experienced during our first two Jobs-for-Life classes. Front Step is proud to be associated with Jobs-for-Life and look forward to facilitate the next program.
In these pictures (top) we have Wil Snell, Executive Director of Front Step Inc and David Spickard, President/ CEO of Jobs-for-Life and (bottom left) Jason Kingsley, Director of Operations for Front Step Inc.

Front Step's Culinary Program

Front Step's Culinary Program will commence as soon as the Training Centre and kitchen at our Courtland Site is completed. The targeted date for completion is October 2012. The program will begin with hygiene and food handling principles, it will then move to progressively more difficult theories and skills such as knife works, cooking types, hosting and table setting and the aesthetics of restuarants.
Here we see a team from the Church of the Nazarene from Oregon and Front Step Interns cleaning kitchen equipment soon to be installed.
